"Written in memory of Mr. John Charles Matousek.  Mr. Matousek was a math teacher at Chisholm High School in Enid, OK, a position which he took after serving 22 years in the Army.  Mr. Matousek was also a mentor (and teacher) to the composer.  This piece emulates the three characteristics of Mr. Matousek:  Honor, Duty, and Faith."
