"Ad Astra (To the Stars) depicts a beautiful landscape of the night sky, in all of its splendor and immense wonder. Dedicated to my dear friend, Pam Smith Kelly, for her continued encouragement and support throughout these last few years. The piece was inspired by the piece that her dad, Claude T. Smith, dedicated to her, "Star Song." The mallet percussion helps paint the sparkling sights of the night sky. This piece is an exploration of colors as well as unique harmonies depicting the wonder of it all.”
